This Lean Six Sigma Yellow to Green Belt Upgrade course prepares participants to perform the role of a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. The Lean Six Sigma Yellow to Green Belt Upgrade training materials comprise a comprehensive curriculum covering everything within the Lean Six Sigma Body of Knowledge required to successfully complete Green Belt certification.
After achieving this qualification, Green Belts contribute their knowledge and expertise utilising the DMAIC methodology and the relevant tools during execution of a project in their work unit as a project manager under supervision of a Black Belt.

Before you Start with Lean Six Sigma Yellow to Green Belt Upgrade

A Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certificate issued by an accredited training service provider for a 2-day Yellow Belt course is a prerequisite for this course. Without this certification, CBIS cannot guarantee the adequacy of the Green Belt training. The Green Belt Body of Knowledge is not covered in detail during this course. Intermediate level numeracy and statistical knowledge are required.

What is the difference between "Yellow Belt", "Green Belt", "Black Belt" and "Master Black Belt"?

In the Lean Six Sigma environment, the qualifications and the level of engagement of a project team are ranked by different belt colours, which is a concept borrowed from Eastern martial arts. Yellow Belt is the first recognised level of Lean Six Sigma certification which can be upgraded to Green Belt and then Black Belt as the second and third recognised levels. Master Black Belts (MBB), as the highest ranked belt, is a common accreditation for professionals who work as the Lean Six Sigma senior trainer, consultant or coach as their career.

What is the difference between "Public Training" and "In-House Training"?

“Public Training” is run based on a fixed schedule at a public training venue for a group of people from different organisations, whereas ͞”In-House” training is delivered on a more flexible schedule at the organisation’s premises for a group of internal people. What is ISO 18404 standard?

ISO 18404:2015 was launched by International organisation for standardisation (ISO) in December 2015 as a new International Standard for both organisations and individuals as competent practitioners of both Lean and/or Six Sigma;
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate that they have an adequate level of competence, an amalgamation of education, training, skills and experience necessary to fulfil their roles. So, completion of a lean and/or six sigma projects is required in ISO 18404.

What is DUAL Certification?

As CBIS is the ONLY Lean Six Sigma training service provider worldwide who is accredited by IASSC, for Lean Six Sigma Yellow, Green and Black Belts and also is Exemplar Global certified TPECS Provider, it offers DUAL certification, one at the end of the course and after passing the exam from IASSC and the other one after completion of the Lean Six Sigma Project under Exemplar Global banner and in compliance with ISO 18404 standard.

What are the templates and am I allowed to use the templates for my projects?

Depending on the Lean & Six Sigma Program, the templates are provided in various formats including word, excel, etc. as a part of the training package. You are entitled to use them for your project, but are not permitted to share them with others. All templates are owned by CBIS and subject to copyright.

Do I need to complete a project to get my certificate?

It depends on the Lean Six Sigma program. For some of the programs such as “Yellow Belt”, you are not expected to complete a project, but for the “Green Belt”, “Black Belt” and “Master Black Belt” programs, according to ISO 18404 Body of Knowledge, completion of project within 6 months after the training and final test is mandatory.

As we offer DUAL Certification, an IASSC certificate will be granted for Yellow, Green and Black Belt programs even if you do not complete a project, but after successful submission of the project, another “certificate of attainment” will be granted under Exemplar Global banner according to ISO 18404 international standard and includes the project title. For “Master Black Belt”, “certificate of attendance” will be granted if MBB project is not successfully submitted within six monbths.

As part of our service, CBIS will support you after the course by reviewing and auditing your project.

Do I need to buy and install Minitab in advance?

No, you do not have to buy the Minitab software license as we use the free trial version during the course. You may purchase the software afterwards if you would like to use it after the course and for your project. If it is not installed on your computer before the training, we will help you to install it during the course.

Should I use my own computer during the course?

Yes. If the course includes Minitab exercises, all participants will use their own equipment such as Laptop, Tablet, etc. Please make sure that Minitab can be installed on your equipment. You will need to check the authorisation requirements as well as the operating system, including Windows, Mac, etc.

What is the difference between various accreditation bodies?

There are several accreditation bodies in existence including, IASSC, ASQ, Exemplar Global, The Council for Six Sigma Certification, 6sigmastudy, etc. Each body of knowledge may differ, but all are credible. Some, such as ASQ, or Exemplar Global requires an affidavit of for your project work, but others (such as IASSC) provide knowledge based certification exams and do not have a project requirement.

Amongst above-mentioned accreditation bodies, Exemplar Global follows ISO 18404 International Standard as its Body of Knowledge (BoK), but others follow their own BoK.

Should I pay IASSC for the exam directly?

No. As the IASSC exam fee is included, you do not need to pay an exam fee separately if you are enrolled for our training. If you are not enrolled for our training, you can contact either IASSC or CBIS for the web-based or paper-based exam. If participants are interested an exam can be booked through the IASSC website directly. The exam fee is $195 (USD), $295 (USD) and $395 (USD) for Yellow Belt, Green Belt and Black Belt exams, respectively.

How can I pay training and certification fee?

As the fee is paid to CBIS for both the training and the exam, no international fee is applied. Payments can be made using all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), PayPal (2.6% surcharge is applied) or through direct bank transfer. A receipt will be emailed to you after the payment is made.

How can we prepare for the final exam?

As a part of training package, CBIS will provide participants with a practice test paper before the final exam.

How many questions are in the final exam?

The number of questions differs depending on the Lean Six Sigma programs listed below. The exam duration and pass mark are also included:

  • LSS Yellow Belt (IASSC Exam): 60 multiple-choice and true/false questions – 2 hours – Pass mark is 70%.
  • LSS Green Belt (IASSC Exam): 100 multiple-choice and true/false questions – 3 hours – Pass mark is 70%.
  • LSS Black Belt (IASSC Exam): 150 multiple-choice and true/false questions – 4 hours – Pass mark is 70%.
  • LSS Master Black Belt: 200 multiple-choice and true/false questions – 5 hours – Pass mark is 70%.

Is the final exam open book or closed book?

All the exams are closed book and proctored. All formulas and tables one will need during the examination are provided in a reference document. Scratch paper is also furnished to candidates but must be destroyed prior to leaving the testing facility.

What if I do not pass the exam?

A retake exam cannot be undertaken more than once within a 2-week period and cannot be taken more than a total of three times within a 3-month period.

Do I need to get recertified or is my certificate valid in perpetuity?

The IASSC certificates (LSSYB, LSSGB LSSBB) are granted for a period of three years from the time the candidate has received their Certification. After that time, an ͞Elapsed Status͟ will then be applied to the Certification unless the participant has successfully been recertified. Recertification exams are abbreviated versions of the Certification Exams. The number of questions are different depending on the Lean Six Sigma programs. These are listed below along with the duration, pass mark and relevant fee:

  • LSS Yellow Belt (IASSC Exam): 30 multiple-choice and true/false questions – 1 hour – Pass mark is 70% of the total score – Exam fee is $115 (USD).
  • LSS Green Belt (IASSC Exam): 50 multiple-choice and true/false questions – 1.5 hours – Pass mark is 70% of the total score – Exam fee is $175 (USD).
  • LSS Black Belt (IASSC Exam): 75 multiple-choice and true/false questions – 2 hours – Pass mark is 70% of the total score – Exam fee is $235 (USD).

For the Certificate in accordance to ISO 18404 Standard, except “Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt” Program, the certificates for other Lean Six Sigma programs are granted for a period of three years from the time the candidate has received their Certification. After that time, an ͞Elapsed Status͟ will then be applied to the Certification unless the participant has successfully submitted the project(s) portfolio.

Is the final exam online?

There are both web-based and paper-based exams available.
For Lean Six Sigma “Black to Master Black Belt Upgrade” as well as “Master Black Belt”, only paper-based is available.

What does Combined training mean?

In the combined training, different programs are combined to make the course relevant to all participants, despite differing levels of understanding and knowledge. The combined training courses are delivered as per the schedule below:

  • Day 1-2: Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt
  • Day 3-5: Lean Six Sigma Yellow to Green Belt Upgrade
  • Day 1-5: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Day 6-10: Lean Six Sigma Green to Black Belt Upgrade

Who are the facilitators for the Lean & Six Sigma training courses?

All CBIS facilitators are qualified trainers with over 15 years of experience in process improvement and Lean & Six Sigma training, consulting and coaching.

Can I cancel or postpone my enrolment?

  • Trainees who give written notice to cancel their enrolment up to 30 days prior to the commencement of a training will be entitled to a 90% refund of fees paid after deducting 10% administration fees. Alternatively, a substitute candidate can attend at no additional cost.
  • Trainees who give written notice to cancel their enrolment between 20 and 30 days prior to the commencement of a training will be entitled to a 50% refund of fee. Alternatively, a substitute candidate can attend at no additional cost.
  • Trainees who give written notice to cancel their enrolment within 20 days of a training or after a training program has commenced will not be entitled to a refund of fees. Alternatively, a substitute candidate can attend at no additional cost.
  • If the training course gets cancelled by CBIS for any reason such as limited number of participants, the trainee will be entitled to a full refund of fees paid, or will be enrolled for the next available course.
